News & The Online Age - Jordan

Here I have looked at both Facebook and Twitter:

Facebook allows its users to gain full access to news stories in such a way that it is incorporated into their every day lives. For example, Facebook will suggest news stories for its users to read/watch, based on the things that they have liked, commented on or subscribed to. By showing an interest in a news category, Facebook will notify and will continue to present news to the user in different ways. They may also send a notification to the user when big events will be happening around their area. Another way they share news is by allowing people to mark whether they are safe or not during an event. For example, in the Manchester or London terrorist attacks, whether you were able to mark if you were 'Safe' or not.

In relation to Twitter news can be accessed through twitter due to how quickly it is for people to post about events and its easy accessibility. For example, many people head to twitter as soon as an event occurs to document and share what has happened in a simple way. President Donald Trump is known for his use of twitter. He often comments on huge political topics on the platform, sparking the debate as to whether or not this is appropriate for the president to do.
