It is clear that the evidence from politicians such as Donald Trump is built upon weak foundations, they point out a link between video games and it's motivation to craft violent acts. In doing so they have created an atmosphere where it is normal to blame video games for unrelated crimes, perhaps to appeal to their audience. Just after the Sandy Hook massacre, it was revealed that shooter Adam Lanza was influenced by violent video games.

In the Connecticut's report they provide details regarding the shooting, it was noticed that Lanza's 'violent video game' was Move Dance Revolution, which is an arcade rhythm game. In this instance video games were persecuted for causing a mass shooting. People who aren't gamer's have a lot of misconceptions around video games, although they are genuinely concerned about the effects of violent video games, their ignorance blinds them.

These interpretations are clouded, they fail to understand other factors that may be contributing to violent acts such as child abuse, where video games play a vital role in numbing this pain.

The misinterpretation of gamers is that they enjoy violence instead of exploring the mountains, and solving puzzles in ancient tombs. The people putting forth these expressions typically aren't the people playing video games, only seeing the violence in video games and not what else it has to offer in terms of stimulating the brain.

A perfect analogy to use is, just because I play a violent video game such as Grand Theft Auto, why should that experience be any different from a violent show like breaking bad? They are both at the same level of violence, therefore it is unfair only to scapegoat video games and not take into question other forms of media aswell. Ironically a New mexico high school chemistry teacher pleaded guilty for producing methamphedamines, yet this wasn't slandered by the media.

We talked to Ellen Reid, a physiologist at the university of Hertfordshire, to ask her about this link between video games and violence.

We looked into the UK national survey, regarding the question of video games and violence. The survey reflected, a correlation between age and their perception on games and violence. We found that the older someone becomes the more they agree video games and violence have a undeniable connection. The age rating 32+ landed at 90% and 13-18 landing on 13% agreeing with the statement . This clearly represents how disconnected a majority of elders are with the current generation of video games. It is evident from the statistics, that elders haven't grown up with video games unlike the current generation being apart of a new wave of technology. The teens clearly understand the consequences of violence as they play video games unlike the elders, who have built in perceptions from bad experiences.
